Ireland held their early lead despite a strong second half by Wales in today’s 6 Nations opener in Cardiff. Ireland’s 30-22 win was made possible with Brian O’Driscoll’s return, following injury last season.
O’Driscoll, 34, notched his 26th RBS 6 Nations try and later admitted that revenge was sweet, following Ireland’s history with the Welsh.
Ireland’s campaign continues next Sunday, when the side will face top-of-the-table England, at home. Sunday 24th February will see Declan Kidney’s boys travelling to Murrayfield for a crucial fixture with Scotland.
